September 3rd- Oops, I Forgot About Keithville Industrial Park

Situated just south of Union Street Yard in Shreveport is the Keithville Industrial Park.
The Keithville Industrial Park is served by the Shreveport Public Belt Line.
The only way to get from Union Street Yard to
the Keithville Industrial Park is via a viaduct (above).
At the entrance to the Keithville Industrial Park is a small depot (above).
Many visitors believe that the Keithville Industrial Park is named
for my long time friend and owner of CVP Products,
Keith Guiterrez of Dallas, Texas.
It is NOT.
The area was designed by former Sue Line Crew member Keith Cassion
who as best I know now lives in Florida.
Trucks can access many of the industries in the Keithville Industrial Park
via a roadway (above).
The map (above) was designed and drawn by Sue Line Crew member Charlie DeVillbiss.
On the north end of the east side of the Keithville Industrial Park is
the Dow Chemical Company (above).
The Dow Chemical Company is served by two tracks.
One track is for liquid chemical loading and unloading (above, left).
The other track is for plastic pellet loading and unloading (above, right).
Here we see Keith's Scrap and Crap (above).
The hours are 1:00 to 1:30 PM every other Monday!
Just to the south of Dow Chemical Company is JRK Grain (above).
This industry is named for my three children-
Joseph
Richard
Kathryn.
There are two spurs for JRK Grain,
the east track and the west track.
The spur with the blue wood chip car, the green boxcar and the black coil car
is a hold for orders track.
Continuing southward we come to
Thompson Steel and Wire (above).
This industry is named for good friend and modeler
Ken Thompson of Austin, Texas.
In his younger years Ken Thompson was a repossession agent-
hence the name Steel (Steal) and Wire (Hot Wire).
Next we see National Scrap Metal Company (above).
This industry is NOT served by the railroad.
Next we can see the Coor's Brewing Complex (above).
One spur spur is for beer barrel loading (above, left).
The other is for raw products (above, right).
The last building on the east side of the Keithville Industrial Park
is the Bekins Cold Storage (above).
Near the middle of the Keithville Industrial Park is Barrow Agregrates (above).
This industry is named for well known model railroader and
good friend- David Barrow of Austin, Texas.
Just southward is Pap's Plumbing (above).
This industry is dedicated to my dad,
Roger "Joe" Kamm, who was a master plumber and
known to my children as "Pap".
The last industry in the middle region of the Keithville Industrial Park
is a scrap yard (above)
which is also NOT served by the Shreveport Public Belt Line.
On the western side of the Keithville Industrial Park is a loading dock (above)
with two track- an east track and a west track.
Lastly we see Guiterrez Yard from the north (above, left) and
from the south (above, right).
This area is named for Keith Guiterrez and helps to
add to the confusion about Keithville Industrial Park!
If you notice carefully, there is a blending or layering of
industries in the region-
In the foreground is Keithville Industrial Park,
in the mid-ground is the mainline in Morgan, and
in the background is Elliott.
This gives a feeling of a far greater area to
the Keithville Industrial Park.
