September 9th- Dead Man Switch (CV-11) has been killing us.

The Sue Line Crew is still learning about DCC. One of the decoder configurations Values (CV), specifically CV11 is labeled Packet Time Out Value or as Charlie DeVillbiss (below) related- The Dead Man Switch. Charlie actually used one when he was younger.

Paul Harwell (below) had loaned the Sue Line several GP7's which had QSI decoders in them. The only problem was that they would run a short distance and then shut down.

The result was very frustrating. I had been told and told and told- read the book by two good friends at CVP Products, so after some reading I found that the original default was a value of 0 which was "disreguard", but an "update" had changed this default to 1 which was 1 second before starting shut down, if the signal did not change.

David Colvin was the first to note that if he "fiddled" with the radio throttle that the GP-7 would keep running.

Needless to say, the crew was not very happy to have to wait while all of this was confirmed.
